Letter of the Week- Letter B

So, here we are.  Letter B week!  If you look at our agenda we had planned on focusing on butterflies and balloons for the week, but so many other fun letter "B" things came up through out the week!  I modified our curriculum so it's kind of random looking, but it worked for us!

Here are a few pictures of our fun.

We made a baker's hat and colored a picture of a bakery to take to a friend of ours who works at a nearby bakery.
And so she was.
On our way we stopped at Chick-fil-a for Family Night and they had
face painting.  Addilyn wanted to be a butterfly...

Addi was so excited that she was going to get to taste the bread at the bakery!
...and so was little brother.
Letter B shapes and animals with play-doh.
My little ballerina is, well... not so graceful.
Poor thing, she get's it honest.
I inherited clumsiness from my dad and
I'm afraid I've passed it on to my little ones.  Bummer.
Painting watercolors is beginning to be one of her favorites, especially when ther
Once Addi found all the Bs she wanted to go back and find the As.
Making pasta "bead" bracelets.
We played a little basketball at the YMCA one day.
Banana and blueberry smoothie...YUM!!!
When we went to the Wetland Center near our house they
gave Addi a poster all about butterflies.
They also taught her a lesson about birds.
She had stuffed animals of about 20 different species
and when you pressed them it made their specific call.
It was really neat.  I learned a lot too!

Letter of the Week- Letter A

At the end of the first week I can honestly say, "We had a LOT of fun."  Addilyn really enjoyed her activities and I enjoyed seeing her thrive on learning.  Here is a copy of our curriculum and just a few pictures from the week.

I laminate all my worksheets so she can do them several times within the same week.
Using an apple stamp.
Winnie the Pooh worksheet!
Addi loves "Do a Dot" markers!

Math lesson about the number 1.  "Color one brown, one green, and one yellow."
Science lesson on air.
Making capital letter A.
...and transforming him into an Alligator.
So why not make lowercase a into an apple?

So proud of her letters.
Handwriting practice.
Watercolors- way too much fun for a 2 year old!!!
There are the hidden letters.
This morning we picked some flowers before talking about Isaiah 40. It made Add a little
sad to know that flowers, grass, and people were going to go away. Fortunately, she
got excited again when I reminded her the the Bible will last forever!
Letter matching.
Uppercase and lowercase jumping. (Jump from big A to the next
big A until you get to the end then try it again with the little a).

My husband thought I was crazy when I told him I needed an apple for Addi to paint stars with.

Bible Lesson for the week- this was a picture taken on Friday.
I add things as the week goes on, it doesn't start out like this.
What is written in blue is what Addi recites.
Sandpaper and yarn letter drawing.
No mess finger painting (one of our square shape activities).

Calendar Time

Good morning, good morning, good morning to you!
Good morning, good morning, good morning to you!
The day is beginning and there's so much to do!

Each morning we start our day by singing together and learning what the rest of the day will hold for us.  We typically do this at the breakfast table (after we are done eating but before anyone is allowed to get down).

We start by singing about the Months of the Year (to the tune of "Ten Little Indians") and then Days of the Week (to the tune of "Oh, my Darlin' Clementine).  I don't think Addi understands the concept of a year yet, but we still go over what year it it.  We also go over "Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow."

Next, we move on to identifying the season, the current day's weather, and the weekly forecast.  Then, we go over our basic schedule and activities for the day.  Finally, we wrap up calendar time by going over our numbers chart and singing our ABC's.

Just Monkeying Around

My little man is turning ONE?  What?  You are kidding me!  Where in the world did that time go?  I'm sure anyone with a child who is older than one has said those words.  No matter how many sleepless nights you go through, you look back after the first year and it seems like you barely blinked your eyes.  Here are a few pictures from his party.
Smash cake!!!

Banana split bar.

There's my little monkey!!!
